Born in Lancaster, PA, Dan started working in his family’s restaurant after school and on weekends at nine years of age. This early beginning in the service industry impressed upon Dan the importance of excellent customer service and integrity in business. Dan went on to graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson with a degree Hotel/Restaurant Management. The restaurant career took Dan to San Diego, CA, Aspen, CO and back to Lancaster, PA. After twenty years in the business, Dan sought a change and began working for world renowned Clair Brothers Audio in Lititz, Pa in 1989. Clair Brothers was instrumental in teaching Dan all the basics of audio engineering. In 1995 Dan moved to Myrtle Beach to set up a division of Winston-Salem’s Long Communications; then transferred to the Winston-Salem office of Long Communications in 2000. In 2004, Dan decided to step out on his own with the assistance of Church Interiors and created Church Interiors Audio/Video (CIAv). This successful venture continues to thrive.
In 2006, Dan received the Excellence in Business Award for Philanthropic Contributions from the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) for outstanding business practices when CIAv participated in Extreme Home Makeover to aid Katrina victims. Dan continues to support community outreach locally and is a strong advocate of the arts.
David attended the North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied filmmaking, specifically Sound Design and Picture Editing. David furthered his education at Guilford Technical Community College School of Entertainment Technology where he studied Live Sound production and recording Engineering. David brings a musical background to the company with a focus in bass guitar and developed stage and touring experience through his band, “The Ascendicate”. David began his career at CIAv in 2004 as an installation technician. Currently David is a sales engineer/systems designer and end user trainer.
Tim’s AV experience began in Broadcast TV Engineering for a span of ten years. After that, Tim spent seventeen years at Long Communications and four years at Video Systems of the Carolinas. Tim then transitioned to CIAv and has been with the company since 2007.
Wayne has over twenty-five years of AV experience and is a Level Two Hearing Loop Designer. From 1996 – 2012, Wayne successfully owned and operated Perfect Sound. Wayne oversees the Church Division at CIAv focusing on Design and Sales.
Shawn is a graduate of Bowling Green University in Ohio and has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a major in Radio/TV/Film. Shawn began his career in the video production industry holding various technical positions such as: director, videographer, editor and producer of various production agencies including Exxon USA and WBGU-TV.
Shawn transitioned into sales and system design for Audio Visual and Broadcast Video and has twenty years of experience in this field. Understanding that technology is constantly changing, Shawn continues to further his education in the field and holds the highest certification in Audio/Video: a CTS-D in Design. He also holds many other product certifications from the following: Extron, Crestron, AMX, Biamp, Vaddio, Polycom and Smart Technologies.
Michael is a native of Hannover, Germany. He graduated from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School in Germany. For eighteen months, he served as a Maintenance Technician in a German Hospital for a civil services assignment. While in Hannover, he served at the Technical Director for Rocksound Ltd. and was responsible for engineering and organizing major show events, programming and design of company computer system, sound and lighting design and traveled extensively as technical tour manager for the Scorpions, Bon Jovi, and Joe Cocker.
In 1987, Michael started with Long Communications as a technician and quickly accelerated through the company to become Project Manager, Project Services Manager, and Operations Manager. While at Long, Michael was responsible for Engineering, Installation, Service and Project Management departments. Further, he oversaw all System Design and Quality Control, all House Account Sales, and all estimating and design of complex audio-video and sound systems. In 2015 Michael joined the CIAv team and brings over thirty years of experience to the company. To provide the most up-to-date knowledge, Michael continues to maintain several product certifications including: AMX, Extron, Crestron, IED, Barco, Crown, Sony, Shure, Atlas Sounds, Kramer, ClearOne, Polycom and, the highest of certifications, CTS-D.
Malcolm is originally from Philadelphia, PA but moved to Atlantic City, NJ to attend high school. Interests formed in high school culminated in Malcolm’s college career. While at North Carolina Central University, Malcolm was a student athlete and obtained two bachelor degrees: Political Science and History in 2001. Simultaneously he participated in the music and theatre programs and toured in the summer as an audio engineer.
Malcolm has served as the Media Director for two mega churches in the Durham NC area: Kings Park International Church and World Overcomers Christian Church. Malcolm has also toured the world as a Front of House Engineer/ Production Manager for many popular acts such as Israel Houghton and New Breed, Kirk Franklin, Travis Greene, BabyFace, Jon B, 112, SWV, and New Edition. He also provided production and developed several annual large-scale events and festivals for clients such as Radio One, BET, ABC, Live Nation, AEG, and Iheart Media. Malcolm moved on and spent five years at AE Global Media followed by one year at All Pro Sound.
In 2017 Malcolm joined the CIAv team where his key role is in the area of business development.
Jeanie has thirty years of experience in all phases of the audio-visual industry. Jeanie began her career at Long Communications, then Long Engineering in Winston-Salem, NC. In May of 2015, Jeanie joined the CIAv team and is a Certified Smart Education Sales Consultant.
Although Andrew was born in Athens, GA, he grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from the College of Charleston with a bachelor’s degree in US History. While in Charleston, Andrew was the Product Manager and Buyer at Millennium Music from 1997-2000. In 2001, Andrew graduated from Full Sail University with an Associate’s Degree in Audio Engineering. Prior to coming to CIAv in 2006, Andrew worked at Carolina Alarm and Sound and was the Monitor Engineer at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem, NC. Andrew holds several product certifications including: Biamp Tesira, Audio Architect, Symetrix.
Steve has sixteen years of industry experience. His role at CIAv is Director of Engineering and includes system design, implementation of drawings and wiring schematics, control system programming and customer training. He sees each project from conception to completion Steve joined the CIAv team in 2007 and holds a CTS-I certification from InfoComm.
Scott grew up tinkering with electronics and a passion for action cinematography as well as skiing and mountain biking. His education focused on business, marketing, computer science and video editing. These varied interests lead Scott to a variety of fields; electrician, sports marketing, web design and factotum. Scott has been a part of CIAv team for over ten years and holds a CTS certification.
Michael joined the CIAv team in 2006. Hard-working and dedicated, Michael has acquired all his AV industry knowledge through “on the job training” at CIAv. Three years ago, Michael moved into the position of Project Manager and Crew Chief and is CTS certified by InfoComm.
Al is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Al has over twenty years experience working in the AV industry. With ever changing technology, Al enjoys the challenge of keeping current and holds several product certifications including Extron Control Specialist, Crestron DM, and Crestron DM-D-E.
Ten years prior to joining the CIAv team in 2008, Andrew worked with sounds systems and played in bands. Andrew continues to work with sounds systems and playing in a praise band on the weekends.
Aubrey is originally from San Diego, CA. He began his career in Retail Management and worked for a Journeyman Plumber for several years.
When Aubrey joined the CIAv team in 2012 he started as the shipping/receiving clerk and handled payroll. A field technician for the last four years, Aubrey has proudly installed CIAv systems in ten different states. He is also the company’s Notary Public.
Matt graduated from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro with a degree in Technical Theatre Production (including lighting and audio). Matt joined the CIAv team in 2014 and is CTS certified.
Perry began and developed his career in AV by working for his father at Perfect Sound for over twenty years. In 2014, Perry joined the CIAv team. Perry is Firestop certified and CTS certified with InfoComm.
